Let's Make Tortillas!

Let's Make Tortillas!

Every day is a celebration in Kindergarten! Here we make tortillas: mix the masa, make a ball (a sphere!), flatten it in the tortilla press, and let a parent volunteer cook it. Delicious! Or maybe we should say "Delicioso" since we are making tortillas to celebrate Cinco de Mayo!

Fruit Salad!

Fruit Salad!

We learn about fruits and vegetables: where they come from, how they grow, what they look like, and most importantly, how they taste! Everyone has brought in a different fruit to make fruit salad. Mr. Kohn cuts them in half and we look at the seeds. We try new fruits because you can't say you don't like something if you've never tried it before! Next week we will be making a VEGETABLE salad!

Gingerbread Houses

Gingerbread Houses

Take some graham crackers, add some candies and tons of white frosting and you have Gingerbread Houses (and sticky fingers!). Look closely: the M & M's are Christmas lights! We make the chimneys out of small chocolate bars. We cover the roof with tiles made out of "Skittles." Stack three marshmellows together and you have a snowman in the front yard!

Bread & Butter(flies)

Bread & Butter(flies)

We take a piece of toast and cut it diagonally. Then we "paint" it with jelly and give it licorice antennea! We love to eat these bugs!

Easter Bunny Toast

Easter Bunny Toast

We start with two pieces of toast. We cut one in half to use for the ears, and use the other piece of toast as the head. We "paint" the toast with jelly and then use raisins for the mouth, nose and eyes. We then use thin red licorice for the whiskers. Yummy!
